Urodynamic Unit has come into service on January 2018 in Urology Clinic of Trabzon Kanuni Training and Research Hospital. In our unit, urodynamic tests can be performed on every weekdayby appointment on patients who are recommended to take urodynamic tests by doctors after necessary examinations and investigations. During giving appointments, patients are informed about what is required to be done before the test and about complications that can occur after the test.

Urodynamia is the general name of the tests investigating functional disorders of organs (bladder, prostate, urinary tract) functioning in urination and urine storage. It is a diagnosis method that enables tomake the definite diagnosis for complaints such as urinary incontinence and being unable to urinate related to various diseases in adults and children and to plan the suitable drug treatment or surgerysubsequently. Today, there is no alternative diagnosis method to urodynamia          “ for patients needing it.

Urodynamic procedure is a dynamic test performed painlessly with two pressure-measuring, fine catheters placed through urinary tract into bladder and through anus into rectum without making a cut. During procedure, muscle activity is monitored simultaneously through electrodes adhered to skin. By suitably filling the bladder with serum by means of the catheter, feeling to urinate is created and subsequently urination is accomplished.During this filling and voiding, the behaviors of bladder and surrounding muscles are recorded and examined. Prior to the procedure, urine culture is required to be sterile.

Urodynamic tests include:

  • Uroflowmetry
  • Cystometry
  • Pressure-Flow Study
  • Video-Urodynamic Examination.

Urodynamia in women is used for diagnosis and treatment plan of the following conditions:

  • Various types of urine leakage
  • Overactive bladder
  • Insufficient function of bladder muscle
  • Neurogenic bladder stemming from various neurologic diseases or vertebral trauma.

  • Some conditions of benign prostate hyperplasia
  • Overactive bladder
  • Insufficient function of bladder muscle
  • Urinary tract blockages
  • Neurogenic bladder stemming from various neurologic diseases or vertebral trauma
  • Urine leakage after prostate surgery.

Urodynamia in children is used for diagnosis and treatment plan of the following conditions:

  • Urination disorders
  • Recurrent urinary tract infections
  • Night and day urine leakages
  • Spina bifida and neurogenic bladder.
