Patient Rights

Our unit was founded on 12.17.2004. Its aims are preventing violations of patient rights and problems arising from these violations, providing health service properly for patient satisfaction and human honor and educating patients, patient relatives and health personnel. One social service specialist and one medical secretary are working in our unit under the coordination of one Deputy Chief Physician. Furthermore, there is a Hospital Patient Rights Committee with 7 members that examines and concludes applications related to violations of patient rights and that works to develop patient right practices. The committee make decisions by majority of votes and with secret ballot. Complaints can be made by applying to our unit in person or through Web Site of Ministry of Health (click here). In case of written complaints, the parties are informed about the result in up to 15 workdays after the complaint.

Operation:

  • The opinion and complaint of the patient are taken on the same day and complaint form is filled in.
  • In case of a very emergent situation, hospital administration is informed on the same day to solve the problem.
  • Information is requested from the hospital employee being subject to complaint in 1 day. Hospital employee is required to respond to the request in 2 days at the latest.
  • If there are persons apart from the parties who are required to give information, information is also requested from them (in 2 days).
  • By creating folders, all received informations and documents are distributed to hospital patient rights committee at the end of third day.
  • The committee comes together once a week (at the day and time determined by the committee itself), evaluates the documents and make a decision by majority of votes (in 11 days at the latest).
  • The decision is reported to patient rights unit. Patient rights unit archives the reports.
  • The parties are informed about the result in up to 15 days after complaint.

To The Patient: 

  • Patient is informed about the decision.
  • Information is given about what to do next.
  • Communication and registration number are given in order to help the patient follow subsequent process.
  • The result of the decision is reported to hospital administration and patient rights center for administrative and judicial follow-up.
  • In addition to informing verbally, patient keeper is absolutely informed about all theseby formal documents.

To The Personnel:

  • The decision of the committee is reported to the related personnel.
  • If committee finds the related personnel wanting, the file is forwarded to hospital administration by cover letter for administrative and judicial prosecution.
  • Administration performs the required administrative and judicial prosecution according to Law with No. 657.
